Thermal bypass
Heritage Building Retrofit Toolkit, published by the City of London Corporation in March 2024, defines thermal bypass as: ‘Heat loss that bypasses the thermal insulation layer between two areas of the construction. This is caused by a combination of conductive and radiative heat loss mechanisms which result in uncontrolled air movement.’
